Downward spiral of the English Language

make a comment

On a column in the online version of The Examiner, Michael Olesker writes about an ex-college professor who collects horrendous sentences his students wrote in the course of this 35 year teaching career.

Full article here. Be sure to read the comments! Some really interesting opinions there too.

Bad English is not restricted to America. It’s even more prevalant in Singapore, where some students are unable to even put together a coherent sentence. Spelling is atrocious everywhere, and sometimes distorts the meaning so badly, it’s hilarious.

My fave picks from both the main article:

“Some people use bad language and is not even aware of the fact.”

“People who murder a lot of people are called masked murderers.”

“Society has moved toward cereal killers.”

Enjoy the laughs. I sure did.

Squiggly Ipod??

No. This is not one of those magic mirrors which distorts objects.

It’s actually an interactive media sculture, which actually works. Impressive I like.

Deleting your digital past for good

make a comment

Can we really do it? I don’t have much unsightly digital past fortunately but it’d be interesting to know if we can really do it. Computerworld reports that it can actually be done. Exactly how, they didn’t manage to find out. However, there’s apparently a new industry called Online Reputation Management which can assist you in doing so.

Read the full article here on MIS Asia’s website. It’s really interesting. Maybe I should Google myself and see what turns up. Hmmmm.

How do photographers drink their coffee?

make a comment

No it’s not a real thing. It’s a photoshopped concept image, grabbed via CHAIN CHANGE.

I’d be one of the first to go get one of these if they really set it into production and sold at a reasonable price. So cool!

A pillow or a notebook case? Why can’t it be both?

make a comment

Aptly called the napbook, what better way to ensure you can work & sleep at the same time??

A design concept by Hafsteinn Juliusson as portrayed on his website:

The Napbook is a laptopcase which also happens to be a comfortable cushion. It is designed for students and commercial people of 105 Reykjavík. Whether it be a class at LHÍ, a lengthy business meeting in Borgartún or just the odd journey home the Napbook should come in handy for the restless. It is sewn by a 105 Reykjavík local sewing room and it should be available at the Apple store around the corner.

Not that we’re going to find it here in Singapore any time soon. Sigh..
